Parenthood underated

Despite the title of this blog what I am really talking about is a main pair in the show Parenthood. No not the boy and girl pairs or father son/daughter pairs, but the mother daughter pairing of the amazing Lauren Graham (Sarah) and Mae Whitman (Amber). Not only do they act greatly together, but this relationship looks REAL. Don't get me wrong I loved the Lorali and Rori relationship on Gilmore Girls, but this relationship seems more real to me. I can't put my finger on it, but I know it has to do with the producer of the show, the amazing Ron Howard. With this relationship and all of the other truly honest, and humble relationships on the show I really think it is an Emmy/ Golden Globe front runner. Lets give an NBC show a chance, and not leave it all up to HBO and Showtime, not all of us can afford those channels! Who else is adoring Parenthood? Mae Whitman? Lauren Graham?

Welcome to the Rileys trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjK-szKfGFQ

This trailer reminds me of what's been missing at the movies lately. The simple idea of grieving. Parents grieving about a lost of child. The rabbit hole also has the same idea but I will talk about that in another post. For right now I am already over impressed by all three main characters in this movie trailer. It's a movie about moving on, and adapting to positive change.I think rather then going out to see movies such as Jackass, Paranormal Activity, and Life as We know it, spend the extra dollar and time to find a theater that is showing Welcome to the Riley's on November 5th, by the looks of the trailer you won't be disappointed.

Is The Social Network the next Avatar?

While some can assume what I mean by this title of the blog is that Social Network will make a large amount of money just like Avatar did, but that is not what I mean. What I mean is that is The Social Network the next Avatar in the sense that it is getting Oscar buzz, and shouldn't be. Don't get me wrong I thought Avatar was absolutely amazing, nothing has ever been done like it, but I still did not think it was Oscar worthy. What the Oscar's to me is for the movies that do not make that much money, but for the small audiences that do see it they leave the movie thinking about what the movie meant, and how it applies to their lives. For example Up in the Air it did not make that much money but people left the movie thinking about how in some ways they learned something from the movie. This year at the Oscars if The Social Network based on something that really happened gets nominated over Indy Movies such as Never Let Me Go, The Black Swan, Blue Valentine and other Indy Hits I will not be happy. The Oscar's is for the Indy Movies not the Blockbuster hits.

90210

90210 tonight was if graded a B, because last weeks episode was most definitely and A! Last week in one episode we witnessed Ade's singing partner Javier die in a car accident where Ade was right next to him. Then Naomi acknowledging that Prof Collin did indeed rape her.Ivy with new found sexual tension with her "best friend" (who it doesn't make sense that he's in high school still to begin with), and also the lack of explanation as to how Tristan and Annie's father and mother decided to end it where he is not even allowed to see his own children. Also, Annie finally doing time for the hit and run, and getting an internship, which were still not even sure if this internship is legit, to then the much needed make out session between Annie and Liem, and finally the Silver Teddy dilemma, because Teddy hurt his leg and now cant pursue his so called future career in Pro Tennis, and has now started drinking and in doing so told Silver that she has nothing going for her while also getting himself in a situation with Naomi hitting on him..terrible night for Silver, but what is up with her hair I really don't like it at all. So this was all in the season premiere, and the only thing I can say about the episode tonight is that the two most interesting things were, Prof Collin's creepy obsession with Silver, and finding out that Annie's new love interest is indeed Liem's brother. So while not as much happened those two plots alone keep me interested and excited for the rest of this season! Who else adored the season premiere?

September shows one week away!

The first of the fall new season of shows starts back up this coming Monday with 90210 at 8 and Gossip Girl following right after at 9! I am beyond excited for both to come back. With the ending of both shows leaving us fans on edge I am interested in what is to come in both of these new seasons. I am very excited to see Katie Cassidy on a new CW show and with her being Nate's new love interest that should leave for some competition for Serena otherwise known as Blake Lively, who I think is under rated as an actress with new movies coming out such as The Town and the Green Lantern. While I like Leighton Meester's character Blair more then Serena in the show I think that Blake is a arms length above any one of the actors and actresses on the show as far as success in the entertainment industry is concerned. Is anyone else beyond excited for this new Monday night line up?

What is up with the box office numbers???!

So the other day I decide to check EW.com box office chart to see who won out the weekend. I thought it would be either Eat Pray Love or The Switch and not only did I think it would be but I also hoped it would considering I saw both and loved them very much. Instead I see movies like the Lottery ticket, parannah, and the Expendables winning out the weekend..can someone explain to me what is wrong with the world?

Yay Kristin Chenoweth!

So I guess myself and Ryan Murphy think a lot alike. He and I both think it would be in the interest of all gleek lovers and Broadway fans that Kristin Chenoweth has her own show!!! I am a huge fan of Kristin with everything from her amazing work on Wicked or even recently with her amazing work with Sean Hayes in Promises Promises, it would only make sense that someone as talented as her received her own show. I don't know about you but I will be glued to the TV on whatever channel and at whatever time this show is on. Who else is beyond happy to hear this news?

Best upcoming movie trailer is....

Never Let Me Go. This movie features the likes of academy award nominees Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan. While I do not know really how to describe what I am seeing in this trailer all I can really say is that it is already receiving Oscar buzz, and by the looks of this trailer it does not look like it will have trouble coming home with any awards during award season.

Katie Cassidy back on the CW!

A few months ago Melrose fans like myself and well not that many other people were disappointed to find out that the CW's Melrose the new generation was canceled after only one season. What was most upsetting to myself among the other minimal amount of fans was that we wouldn't get to see the queen of mean with a heart Katie Cassidy anymore on Tuesday nights. Well to our happy surprise she is joining the cast of Gossip Girl for a multi episode arc for their upcoming fourth season. She will be playing Nate's love interest as well as what she does best the baddest bitch. Who else is excited to here the queen of mean is back where she belongs on the CW?

Dancing with the stars thoughts

So ever since Kate Gosselin left the show they have lost a couple million fans..why do you ask?? Because people loved to see her dance..no not because shes good but because shes absolutely terrible. I for one am with that million people that stopped watching it. It was like watching a terrible movie or show such as the Hills just for the amusement of it. Jake left as well which was also amusing..does anyone else think that theirs something weird about him that were all about to find out..like he used to be one of those creepy neighbors who watched people change threw his window??Well I guess its predictions time and I think that Nicole might win...wow wouldn't that be crazy a professional singer/dancer winning the trophy??That would be unheard of. Well if you agree or don't agree with my accusations or predictions please comment.

Best upcoming movie trailer is......

Eat Pray Love starring Julia Roberts..there's really nothing left to say, but this is looking like another hit staring Julia Roberts herself. It is also based off of the incredibly successful book named "Eat Pray Love", which is based off a true story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZzmqHJ0gPU

The song is called "Dog Days are Over" by Florence and the Machine in case anyone is interested.

Parenthood recap for the first three episodes.

To start I would like to say that I love this show! Not only because I expected it to be amazing with one of the directors being the likes of Ron Howard, but also because of one of my favorite actresses Lauren Graham being apart of the show...needless to say it is all I expected and more.

Who seems to be the leading character although I thought it would be Lauren Graham I am happily surprised to say it is Peter Krause named Adam in the show. The way he is portraying a father of a kid that has just been diagnosed with Asperger's (Max) is amazing. Not only has he proven to be an amazing father;despite his lack of remembering some of his older daughters (Haddie) soccer games she understands why or at least we think this is the case, but also he is the older brother that everyone dreams of having. He's the brother that gives all the right advice to his younger brother and sisters, which include Lauren Graham (Sarah), Dax Shepard (Crosby), and Erica Christensen (Julia). Along with being a great father (for the most part), and a great older brother, Adam is also the best husband too his wife played by Monica Potter (Kristina).

Along with Krause I have grown to love Potter's character, because like Krause she is portrayed as a great mother who cares about nothing more then her children, and as we found out in this episode for both Krause, and Potter's characters they have put an extra amount of care in sending their son Max to the right school considering his condition.

While Potter has proven to be viewed as the ideal mother figure her sister in law Christensen (Julia) is viewed as likewise. Julia spends pretty much all of her time working at a law firm, and rarely gets to see her daughter (Sydney). With the time being lack their of with the two of them Sydney spends most of her time with her father, and one of the other students mothers. Although this idea of not having the ideal mother figure with their daughter all the time their really isn't any other solution considering Julia is the bread maker as her husband (Joel) is the stay at home dad.Which allows Sydney to have a closer bond with her father rather then her mother. In the episode tonight Julia and Sydney were able to connect on a very good level after Julia taught Sydney how to swim, which was nice to see.

Julia's brother played by Shepard (Crosby) was not married or did not have children unlike his brother and sisters, but as of recently Crosby found out that he had a son (Jabar) with his ex girlfriend played by Joy Bryant (Jasmine). While he has been committed to his fiancee (Katie) for a while, and had just recently promised her that he would be ready to have children with her in 3 years..he does not have that opportunity to wait that long anymore. While the relationship with Jabar and Crosby has already grown it looks like things are going to get a little bit shaky once Katie finds out the truth about who Jabar really is.

Crosby's sister (and my favorite actress) Graham (Sarah) started the series having to move herself and her two children (Drew), and (Amber) back with her parents played by Craig T. Nelson (Zeek), and Bonnie Bedella (Camille). Sarah, and her daughter Amber have to share not only a bed, but also a room at the Bravermen house. Along with Drew, and Amber being upset that they moved away from their hometown, and the fact that their father does not even want to be with them doesn't help much either. Sarah was close to getting a job with a PR company, but found out quickly that she wasn't fit for the job. In tonight's episode Sarah and Drew bonded over fixing their car that has seen it all, and in doing this Sarah was able to teach Drew the idea of being able to support yourselves although she had to move home with her parents she wanted to at least make an attempt to fix her own car, or in other words one of her many obstacles that seem to come her way.

What do you think about this show? Is it all that it was brought out to be?

Countdown to Parenthood.

With only weeks left until the premiere of the Ron Howard Television show Parenthood.. it's the only thing I can think about. Its Lauren Grahams first big show since Gilmore Girls, and with her as the lead character it can only be amazing. I will keep posting blogs about parenthood with this next couple weeks being the crucial weeks for promoting the soon to be hit show.

Saddest Clips from past and present shows..

Although I am not necessarily an emotional person I can honestly say that these four clips made me tear up when I saw them when they aired, and still do to this day when I re watch them.

The first two clips are from One Tree Hill, and the O.C.. Both of these clips deal with high school students dealing with shooting incidents.

In the One Tree Hill clip the shooting incident deals with a young unpopular disturbed student named Jimmy who is sick of the popular kids treating him poorly, and more importantly the whole high school scene where he feels nothing more then invisible.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bgbonCk4iY&feature=related

In the O.C. clip the shooting incident deals more with family problems then actual high school issues. Although the shooting portion of this scene is not shown, the part that I found more heartwarming is the fact that the aftermath of Ryan's girfriend shooting Trey to save Ryan's life resulted in Trey leaving without notice. And Ryan being his brother knows exactly where Treys going, and although they may not be on the best terms Ryan still felt the need to say bye to his big brother.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBFX8cuzm1w&feature=PlayList&p=CBF42D0DEEA80F9E&index=0&playnext=1

The next two clips deal with two lead characters Lynette in Desperate Housewives, and Kitty in Brothers and Sisters dealing with their cancer, and handeling it differently when it comes to telling friends and family members.

In Desperate Housewives Lynette has spent the first half of kemo, and dealing with cancer just with her husband Tom, and finally after way to much pressure from her kids schools to help out more, Lynette has taken to much, and what starts as a way of shutting a mother up, ends as a way for all of Lynettes friends to see Lynette for what she really is at the time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIs1b2tijAA&feature=related

In Brothers and Sisters Kitty decides its finally time to let herself and her loved ones surrounding her know whats really going on in her life, and to be proud of just that.

Let me know what clip warmed your heart the most in the comments portion of this blog please!

Golden Globes/Critics Choice Awards Review!

Critics Choice beat Golden Globes in several of the important categories. As far as best host Kristen Chenowith totally out did Ricky Gervais. Kristen had a lot of funny sketches, and did a good job interacting with her fellow actors. Where as Ricky spent most of the night promoting his new show, and movie out on DVD, and that was very short of entertaining. Also, the Critics did a lot better job then the Hollywood Foreign Press in deciding the best picture in the Drama category, I two think that Hurt Locker was more deserved then Avatar as far as for the best picture category. Although Avatar has done amazing at the box office, a year ago it wouldn't even be in the best picture group. The biggest disappointment in both the Critics Choice awards, and the Golden Globes was George Clooney, and Up in the Air not getting what they deserve. Even though I do feel that George Clooney should have took home the best actor nod for both awards I think that Jeff Bridges was a good decision non the less. Lets hope that the Oscars do a better job in deciding the winners for the most important categories of the night.
