Oscar Nominations
Every year I am beyond excited for the Oscar nominations to go out, I even wake up early to watch them announce the nominations live. This year was different, I didn't wake up because I was not only lazy but I was also not too excited about the nomination prospects. All I really was excited about was Charlize Theron (Young Adult), and Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) getting nominated. To my complete surprise not one of these incredibly underrated performers were nominated. Instead we have five ladies that in the eyes of the "blockbuster" critics deserved the nod. Did Viola Davis, Meryl Streep, Rooney Mara, Michelle Williams and Glenn Close really outperform Charlize and Elizabeth? I don't know if anyone could argue with me that they did. The reason being, Elizabeth and Charlize created with the help of the producers and writers...etc, they created new characters that were made completely from their view of what should be told from the story. Where as all of the above five ladies were basing their roles off of already written, produced, and understood roles. While I believe they performed beautifully, I still do not believe they out performed the ladies who in my eyes could stand next too Natalie Portmans performance in Black Swan last year. I think the other ladies would have a hard time standing next to the likes of Natalie Portman (Black Swan) or Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road) for that matter. What do you think? Do you think the ladies really outperformed Charlize and Elizabeth, and for that matter the leading lady Adepro Oduye from Pariah that Meryl so proudly announced as one of the best actresses this year?

Desperate Housewives- "Kiss them Goodbye" Episode One Recap
It is great to be back on Wisteria Lane! We left off last season with a lot of drama that was not fully resolved (and apparently will not be fully resolved for a while).
Spoiler Alert!!!
First things first Lynette and Tom status. Apparently they have yet to tell the kids that they do in fact want to get separated. Penny was picking up the clues leading up to their decision to separate even before they were, but of course it would not be desperate housewives without prolonging things. I thought Marc Cherry did a nice job showing that Lynette does still need Tom and in some ways wants Tom, but Lynette isn't going to go back into the relationship as quickly as most fans would like her too. After episode one we are left with Lynette and Tom letting the kids know that they are separating and leaving us fans wondering who will hook up quicker with someone else? Lynette or Tom?
Gaby's Step Father Crisis. The big cliffhanger of last season was the ladies coming together to hide the death or in that case Murder of Gaby's Step Father who we found out used to sexually abuse Gaby, and has up until that point made Gaby feel unsafe and scared. What was most significant about the season finale was the relationship between Brie and Carlos being reattached because of Bries quick decision to help Carlos and Gaby in hiding this murder and saving Carlos from yet another trip to jail. Brie and Gaby are willing to hide this secret until they die, but Lynette and Susan are not as able to feel that way. Throughout this first episode we see Susan not acting herself because of not being able to tell Mike what the secret is.
For the upcoming episodes this "Secret" will truly show how close the four ladies really are, and for that matter how loyal they are.
So I guess the biggest question is who will tell big secret first? Susan? Lynette..will find out.
Let me know what you thought of this first episode. Do you want Lynette and Tom to stay separated? Do you think Susan has every right to tell Mike the ladies secret?

Parenthood Recap
Tonight's episode was filled with anger, drugs, sex and alcohol and most of it was just Amber. Mae Whitman is truly doing an amazing job showing how a young adult could act after her dreams are crushed, and in doing so I am truly disliking her character and that is saying a lot, because she has been my favorite up until this point. After she pushed her mother Sarah played by Lauren Graham she became very unlikeable which is what I believe Grazer and Howard where trying to portray. I don't want to even start about the car accident, even with being annoyed with Amber currently I could not imagine her not on the show. What I am assuming is that this is just a way for Crosby and Jasmine to get back together, and also a way for Amber to have a wake up call and figure out a different dream rather then resulting to smoking, or drinking, or at least I hope this is the case. In other story lines Crosby is repairing a house for him, Jasmine, and Jabar to live in which I believe is more then amazing, but I am not sure it is enough for Jasmine to forgive him I just hope it is, and he knows this and like he said "its like a hail Mary" lets just hope its in his favor. Also, the second biggest storyline, Haddie admitting to her parents that she is in fact having sex, her mom taking it alot better then her dad which showed yet again the amazing acting skills by Peter Krause who plays Haddies father. Besides the car accident I am happy with every other storyline. I just hope that the season ends with Crosby and Jasmine back together, Amber healthy and motivated, and Haddie not pregnant, but we cant win them all. What do you think? Is Amber bothering you? Did Peter Krause play a good father that just found out his baby girl isn't really a baby anymore?

Minka Kelly back on Parenthood
Hello Parenthood fans! I hope I am not giving anything away but in the preview for next weeks episode their appears to be a big change of events coming our ways and that being with the likes of Minka Kelly. She is definitely making her rounds. Minka is in the number one movie in the world right now the thriller "The Roomate" alongside Gossip Girl alumni Leighton Meester. I actually enjoyed this movie, but that might be discussed in a separate post. So anyways I was happy to see that in the next episode of Parenthood Minka is returning in her same role, except with a twist. It looks like after Crosby and Jasmines fight Crosby might be unfaithful and hook up with Minka. While I love Minka I really would hate to see Crosby and Jasmines relationship go up in flames especially because of what would happen to their adorable son Jabari. I am also happy to announce that Parenthood received over 5 million viewers this past episode which is very good news for all you Braverman family fans out there. So anyways, what do you guys think? While I hope you are as big of a fan as I am of Minka Kelly, do you think Crosby will actually risk loosing his soon to wife for Minka's good looks and convenient comfort?

90210 is back!?
After waiting over a month to see what has changed in Beverly Hills I was both pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised by the anticipated mid season premiere that aired a couple hours ago.
Favorite story lines: Navid and Silver, and Silver/Naomi/Mr.Cannon.
Will start with Navid and Silver. After ending the last episode before break with a kiss I was hoping something more would come out of that storyline. I am happy to say it has, it is a mutual decision that they will continue to see each other (hidden to start) until Ade is over her relationship with Navid, which they guessed would last a month. Of course, as 90210 always does that will not be as easy as they thought, but I look forward to whats coming with those two.
The most anticipated part of the last episode of 90210 besides Liem and Annie was Mr.Cannon being back in the picture. The last episode ends with Mr.Cannon hiding in Naomi's apartment after she just finished telling Oscar not to come over (of course). So this mid season premiere episode started with Naomi undressing and changing into sweats to find Mr.Cannon behind her with a knife. To be honest this reminded me alot of One Tree Hill the stalker episode but I guess CW shows have to stick together. Anyways, Mr.Cannon after tieing Naomi to a chair tells her to call Silver and invite her over, which Naomi refused and Mr.Cannon proceeded to text her. Silver shows up oblivious to what she had just arrived for. Mr.Cannon ends up making the two of them (with hands tied behind their backs) explain that Naomi was never raped and Mr.Cannon was wrongly accused on camera to clear his name. After that Mr.Cannon asks Naomi for her trust fund. Naomi lets him know that's not possible in less she goes to the bank in person. The next morning they started getting ready to leave when Naomi explains that she has to do her make up to make it look real. Naomi then uses her hairspray as a weapon spraying Mr.Cannon while Silver hits him with a flower pot. The storyline ends with Naomi getting convinced not to take Mr.Cannon's life by Silver, and Mr.Cannon getting taken away by the cops. Overall with just a slite comparison to a similar CW show this storyline was done pretty beautifully.
While I liked these story lines I did not enjoy Liem and Annie's, because yet again their is something in their way of finally starting a relationship. This time its not Annie but Liem, and its because of his brother Charlie. After them ending the last episode sharing their feelings I thought the best for their relationship, but of course their has to be another hurdle. Frustrating.
I also don't like the new addition of Annie's cousin. Can't say I am looking forward to that storyline. Just another stalker situation. Been there. Done that.
I don't know how I feel about the Ivy and Dixon storyline. I would love for them to get back together, and tonight made it seem like that's somewhat possible. While this seems somewhat like its going in the right direction I can't say I am happy that Ivy may not enjoy surfing anymore because of one bad fall.
Finally, Teddy and Ian. Or I guess Teddy and Dixon. I felt that Dixon was a little hard on Teddy knowing that Teddy is already feeling badly. While he was hard on him, it did make it seem realistic being that I often forget this is a show about high schoolers. I just hope that Teddy comes out and finally feels comfortable with himself.
OOH and Ade..I actually don't really care.
Being that I had anticipated some other types of story lines I was not as happy as I would like to be with this mid season premiere. I hope that next week will prove me wrong and remind me why I love this show so much.

Parenthood underated
Despite the title of this blog what I am really talking about is a main pair in the show Parenthood. No not the boy and girl pairs or father son/daughter pairs, but the mother daughter pairing of the amazing Lauren Graham (Sarah) and Mae Whitman (Amber). Not only do they act greatly together, but this relationship looks REAL. Don't get me wrong I loved the Lorali and Rori relationship on Gilmore Girls, but this relationship seems more real to me. I can't put my finger on it, but I know it has to do with the producer of the show, the amazing Ron Howard. With this relationship and all of the other truly honest, and humble relationships on the show I really think it is an Emmy/ Golden Globe front runner. Lets give an NBC show a chance, and not leave it all up to HBO and Showtime, not all of us can afford those channels! Who else is adoring Parenthood? Mae Whitman? Lauren Graham?
